Life is full of moments isn’t it! Sad Moments. Happy Moments. Content Moments. Accomplished Moments.
So is mine. My life is made up of so many moments – how do you select a moment to be your #ForeverMoment?
But I did the impossible – not really, this moment is the beacon of hope, hope that has encompassed my whole life and pulled me in it’s warmth.
It all starts when I realize that I have fallen in love – in love with the most wonderful, thoughtful, caring yet the most exasperating man I have had the fortune to meet! We have nothing in common.
Wherein I am gregarious, he is quiet. Where I am impulsive, he is controlled. He is strong, silent type while I am the quirky crazy (that could be considered adorable if you are insane) type. We have known each other for more than two years – we do not yet know how it happened, but it did. We fell in love and have stayed in love for the whole two years (most of which we both were single and never dated anyone else!)
As I iterated before – we are different souls, fundamentally, but that never bothered me. I liked that we were different, that we could have amazingly opposite reactions to the same situations yet never have any disagreements. Oh, don’t get me wrong – we have our fights. In fact we have screaming matches that usually ends with me having a crying jag and him totally in panic because he doesn’t like to see me cry! 😀
Except one thing.
He doesn’t understand my love for reading. He doesn’t understand why I devour books like t=it food and I am starved. He doesn’t understand why I cry when my favourite fictional character is hurt (or worse, dead!). He doesn’t understand why I have a joyous smile on my face for the whole day when I have read a book that has touched my soul. He just didn’t understand and it scared me. No. It terrified me. Because I knew without a doubt that he was IT for me. And that there will be no one else – call it an instinct and I didn’t understand how I would survive, how my soul would survive if the love of my life didn’t understand an integral part of me.
Then it happened.
That day was a slow day at work and that meant a wee bit of reading time for me (Shush! Don’t tell my supervisor!:P) and my Man was sitting with me in the cabin we share (Yes, it’s a work place romance!). He got bored with work, so turns to me and says “Read to me!” and I did.
Now this has happened before as well, but not for a good length of time because we (he) always got distracted by something else (No! No that! :P).
But this day, I read to him, almost 50% of the book – and I have to say I got a little tired and told him, “I am going to lend the book as soon as I am finished. You can read it yourself.”
He goes, “What would possibly make you think that I have any interested in reading?”
I know right? Boy, was I pissed!!! All I could sputter was “Then why on earth would you make me read to you? Was it just to amuse you?” I am not gonna lie, peeps, I was on the verge of tears and possible heartbreak!
He looked at me calmly (or as calm as one can be in the eye of Pavi Storm!) and replied “I might have absolutely no interest in reading, Pavi, but if you read to me, even if it is just the news, is all I need love the words.”
And that was when I realised that he didn’t need to understand the love I had for reading as long as he found joy and love in mine!
“He had my heart. I gave him my soul.”
