Truth: Penn Walker entered my life like a summer storm—dark, ominous, and filled with thunder.

After witnessing my husband’s murder, I didn’t have much of a heart left to offer a man.

But Penn took it all.

Every jagged shard.

Every broken bit.

Even the dirty and twisted pieces that I wish never existed.

Lie: I didn’t need him to save me.

Lie: I knew exactly who he was.

Lie: Losing him wouldn’t destroy me.

But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.

Disclaimer: Please read The Truth About Lies (The Truth Duet #1) – Read My Reviewbefore this is not a standalone and you need to know the background before even realizing what is even happening in the life of Cora and Penn.

The Truth About Us starts exactly where The Truth About Lies ended – with me shattered, but slowly healing. It’s going to be hard to talk about this book without giving away the plot; so all I am going to do is talk about the love I have for the characters.

Cora is left absolutely shattered after the events in the first book – even with her broken heart; she still stands up straight in front of a tsunami of tragedies, but still knows that something somewhere isn’t right. And when her gut feelings turn out to be true – I LOVED that she didn’t catapult into what I would say was her wishes coming true; she was a skeptic, hesitant and definitely strong – it just made me respect and admire her more than I ever did in the first book!

Penn, on the other hand, was an enigma in the first book – brooding and silent wounded warrior that he was; he was more open and perceptive in this book. We got a more in – depth look at who he actually was as man and his deep feelings not only for his late wife and now Cora – with all the secrets now in the open; we get to see the man who has fallen head over heels in love with Cora.

And I couldn’t help but fall absolutely in love with this man all over again – he took my heart with his wounded self; but he took my soul when gave his whole self to Cora like he knew she actually deserved.

As I said before; I only read duets from Aly Martinez; and it’s been a privilege to have early access to her books – now only if I could get these beauties in paperback (without declaring bankruptcy!) I would be a happy camper 😀

P.S. There’s a huge revelation at the end of this book about secondary characters that makes me wanna have 2019 here already!

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
