Today we have the blog tour for THE REBEL, book 1 in The Rockwell Legacy, a passionate new series from USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Bernard. Grab your copy now!

What would you do for love?

Ever the rebel, Kai Rockwell happily risks his life on a daily basis as a rescue paramedic. What he refuses to deal with? His impossibly stubborn father, “Mad Max” Rockwell, who runs the historic Rocky Peak Lodge deep in the Cascade Mountains with an iron fist.

But when his family faces an unexpected threat at Rocky Peak—in the form of a beautiful woman—Kai knows it’s time to go home.

Fiercely protective nurse Nicole Davidson would do almost anything to take care of her disabled sister–even accept a hefty offer to ask a few harmless questions at the charming old lodge where she’s working. Until the outrageously sexy Kai Rockwell shows up and sets everything on fire—most especially her.

Equally determined, equally passionate about protecting their families, Kai and Nicole don’t know if they should be enemies or lovers—or both. All they know is they can’t resist each other…no matter the price.

I adore series with interconnected characters and it becomes even better if the series is about a family, dysfunctional on the outside but a core of loyalty lays the foundation of the family – I usually find such series when all the books are out, cause you have to know I am absolutely no good at patience.

But when I read the blurb of this first book in a new series about five siblings – Kai, Griffin, Jake, Isabelle and Grace – a close knit family living in the Rockwell Lodge; a resort in the Cascade Mountains – I just knew I had to start this series even if the wait for all the books was probably going to kill me!

Right of the bat or rather from the first chapter itself; it was easy to see the kind of deep seated love and affection these Rockwell siblings had for each other – and honestly this chapter was enough for me to be invested fully into everything that had to do with the Rockwell legacy!

It’s 15 years later – and Kai Rockwell is a rescuer aka he rescues people for living, no matter where the rescue is; and even though he is estranged with his father, he still takes time off when he realizes that his siblings are worried, not only about his health but also for their home; it doesn’t take long for him to walk the way back home.

There he encounters the Nurse Nicole – the woman who has been taking care of his father and the woman he has been asked to look into by his siblings.

Nicole is a breathe of fresh air for Kai – but more than that a breathe of fresh air for the resort. I adored Nicole – it’s easy to not only like her but admire her as well – & even though she came under less than ideal circumstances to the lodge; she has slowly come to fall in love with the place and the family themselves; not to mention Kai as well.

There is a slow burning attraction between Kai and Nicole – and I floved the way their relationship progressed – it is hot, yet strong and kind. Nicole was the perfect anti – thesis to the grumpy Kai and I loved how she could make him smile and laugh when no one else could have.

This is my first read by Jennifer Bernard and I love it when I find a new author to get lost into – but most of all I am really looking forward to how the rest of the Rockwell Siblings get their own HEA! ❤

He ran his hands up her thighs, then back down, appreciating the sleek firmness of her legs. “Nurse Nicole, you turn me on.”

She winked at him. “You should see me in my scrubs.”

“Sign me up.” His cock twitched at the vision forming in his mind. “Do I have to develop a heart condition to get a shot at that?”

She swatted him lightly on the chest. “You shouldn’t joke about heart conditions. That’s morbid.”

“Have you met my family yet? Us Rockwells love nothing more than to laugh our asses off at something completely inappropriate. It’s a survival mechanism. My mother had a dark sense of humor. On my fourteenth birthday she made me a zombie cake, it was supposed to look like brains, with bloody icing and two ears on either side. Luckily she wasn’t a very good baker, so it looked just like every other cake she made, kind of messy and lopsided.”

“She sounds like my kind of woman,” Nicole said lightly. “I can’t bake for shit either. I even ruined brownies once. I used a cup of baking soda instead of a tablespoon, and they practically blew up in the oven. Birdie literally cried when she saw them. Actual tears running down her face.”

He laughed along with her. “We’ll have to keep you out of the kitchen. And in my bedroom,” he added in a hot growl that made her giggle again. He shifted his hands to her hipbones and scooted her closer. “You know, you did great out there last night. A little training and you could be rappelling down cliffs rescuing crazy black diamond skiers.”

She laughed it off. “I’ll pass. I don’t mind patching them up, but someone else has to rescue them.”

“See? We’re the perfect team.” He grinned at her and nuzzled her forehead with his. “I don’t know why you’re fighting it. Give it up, Nicole. Admit you want me.”

“I never said I didn’t want you.” That breathless tone…the way she shifted on his lap…the light lavender fragrance that made him think of last night’s sheets…

With their foreheads touching, he couldn’t see enough of her face to read her expression. But he sensed the conflict running through her, and could guess at what she was thinking. She didn’t want to get involved—he got it. They were at odds with each other when it came to the lodge. But did that mean they shouldn’t enjoy the fantastic chemistry they shared?

“Nothing’s changed,” she finally murmured. “Since last night, I mean.”

But something had changed. She was here, wasn’t she? “Not true,” he said. “Something very big has changed. And I do mean big.”

She tilted her head back to meet his eyes. “What are you talking about?”

Deploying his most devastating smile, he winked at her. “We have condoms now.”
