Blog Tour – Review + Excerpt: Tattered (Lark Cove #1) by Devney Perry

OMG!! TATTERED Just shot up to my one of my TOP FAVOURITES of 2018 – this was a beautiful, heartwarming brilliant book about second chances that had me swooning, smiling but most of all hoping ❤

Check out MY REVIEW (which I have to say is all gushing!!) and an EXCERPT if you still haven’t picked up this amazing book!! ❤

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

Slowly, but surely Devney Perry is becoming not only one of my AUTO – BUY Authors but also one of fthose authors whose books I end up binge reading again again (So far, only Nora Roberts and Kristen Ashley have that particular honor!).

But TATTERED? Tattered has to be one of the BEST ROMANCES I have read this year (and I have read a lot!!) – not only does it make me swoon with the kind of characters that Ms. Perry has created, but also a romance that is not only complex and intense yet had absolutely no drama or miscommunication (in other words it was brilliantly adult!) ❤

This beauty, first in a new series, features an incredibly strong single mother; a woman who has risen up from tatters of a childhood that was no childhood at all; to one where she has given unconditional love and support to the daughter she promised to cherish to heaven and moon and back. Her ferocious love, her belief in her daughter had me pretty darn close to tears and as someone who is slowly but surely going towards the path of motherhood, Thea Landry has given me the ideal role model to look up to!

Tattered also features a workaholic man; who after a decade of not knowing is confronted with the knowledge that he is a father. But the best and literally the most heart warming part about the book is that he whole heartedley went all in to be his child’s father. It was a learning process, sure; but there was never a time when he doubted his affections or his paternity, a thing that made me honestly respect and admire him all the more!! Logan Kendrick has ended up on my Fictional Father list; a list that shows exactly the kind of qualities a good and loving father should possess!

Yes, there is drama – but it is a drama that was solid and necessary – all the differences between Thea and Logan that became the reason why they agreed to only one night; are still there and still need to be resolved. But it was absolutely adorable and admirable to see them both handle their relation with each other and the relationship they had with their daughter with such maturity and aplomb!

There is a thread of suspense running through the plot as well; which for me is the icing on my favourite cake – and it is a suspense that ends up over powering  the essence of the story – a beautiful second chance romance and a relationship of a child with her parents!

Devney Perry has shown time and again that her romances are written with class and heart – a combination that is hard to achieve but somehow she does it effortlessly! She has already announced the second book in this series – Timid and if you read the book, you will know which characters are going on their bumpy journey to HEA; and the plot might be different yet I can’t wait for September to arrive!

He stared at me for a long moment. “You’re sure she’s mine?”

“She’s yours.”

“Then that’s good enough.”

“I—really?” I blinked. He didn’t want to verify paternity? He just . . . trusted me?

He nodded. “Really.”

“I swear, I tried to find you, Logan. On my life, I swear it. But the hotel wouldn’t give me your name no matter how much I begged. And you paid cash for your drinks and never mentioned your last name. I tried, but I just . . . didn’t know where to start.”

“It’s not your fault. I believe you.”

The sincerity in his voice made my throat burn. Goddamn it. I was going to cry.

I’d worked so hard not to cry today. I’d fought to keep my emotions in check and my head from spinning out of control. But this was going to make me break.

I wanted so badly for Logan to believe that I hadn’t kept Charlie from him intentionally. The fact that a man like him would trust someone like me without proof meant more than he’d ever know.

“Thank you,” I choked out past the lump in my throat.

“So, um, is Charlie inside with your husband? Or boyfriend?”

The urge to cry disappeared and I barked out a laugh. “Smooth.”

He chuckled. “It’s been a long day for me. Give me a break, will you? This morning I was in New York, then I came to Montana for a business meeting and discovered a daughter. I’m off my game.”
