Book Review: Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

This Six of Crows Duology were my pick for #2018FWTBRPick for the month of February – this is my way of trying to take care of my uncontrollable TBR this year and you can read about it all HERE.

Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:

Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)

Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)

Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)

Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.

Leigh Bardugo is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors – I honestly fell in love with her writing with WONDER WOMAN: WARBRINGER (Read My Review).

But she just cemented my love & obsession with her with this explosive start to a duology that I don’t want to end, not even with the fact that I just CAN’T STOP READING!

This first book just was PERFECT – everything from the plot, to the plot to the setting to the characters pretty much everything just STOLE my heart and then some!

  • KAZ

His was such a brilliant mind, intelligence and cunning was a combination that has always had me swooning – but it was not just that; he is cold and precise yet there was such brilliant character growth in this book, that I CANNOT wait to see where he goes in the next book.

  • INEJ

She is a badass, there is no other words for it. I adored this girl, a girl who was strong, intelligent and definitely daring. Yet she is also aware of her thoughts, opinions and desires. And I couldn’t help but fall in love with her irrevocably with her!

  • NINA

Now she was the fun one, yet the most complex character in this book, she is strong, intelligent yet sassy as heck – a combination that is hell on my soul and pretty much made me her slave right from the start!

I didn’t know what to make of Mathhias; he is a prisoner and a nemesis of Nina; he was rude, judgmental and hypercritical of everything that this group stood for! Yet, there is something quite endearing in him; I couldn’t help but hope for the guy, and I was right – by the end, I was in love with him as well.

Jasper is the comedian of the bunch, the one who provides fun and laughter even with all the seriousness around. He is fun and I adored him.

Wylan is the mystery in this book; and it is not until the climax of the book that we got a real glimpse of him and I liked him; but I can’t wait to see how they both grow in the next book!

I am so in love with this book; and while I can’t stop reading the book, I still do not want this book to end!

When you can’t beat the odds, change the game.

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.

This was a BRILLIANT conclusion to the Six of Crows Duology – I am absolutely devastated with how it ended as well!

And there was nothing could have changed or done to have made it even a bit better!

Wait. No. there is ONE THING I want to change; and I don’t think I will ever be in any way be able to forgive her for this atrocity she committed against her readers.

so maybe, MAYBE there is hope for my shattered heart in the future – and that is the only way I know my future would be in any way brighter!

I am also so freaking glad that Jasper and Wylan got the time they deserved in this book – and they are adorable and delectable! They are brilliant and pretty loyal even with their past actions!

I think it’s time I read the Grishaverse Trilogy! Hopefully I will be getting to them soon! 😀
