From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the second book in the ALL NEW Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets.
He’s a former Marine, her new fake boyfriend, and the only way to escape her dangerous past.
Having a child changed everything for Olivia—she vowed to keep her little girl safe from the mistakes of her past. But when the most dangerous person she ever met blackmails her into doing one last heist, the world she’s so carefully built goes into a tailspin. Frantic, she heads to Redemption Harbor in search of help. Sparks fly when she meets Savage, a man who will do anything to keep Olivia and her daughter safe. He’ll help her get her life back, but can he handle seeing who she once was?
Can they pull it off?
Savage poses as her obsessive ex during a daring undercover operation—and soon the line between reality and their cover story becomes blurred. He’ll use every trick he knows to keep the sensual woman alive and out of jail—and in his life. But the clock is ticking and if they can’t find a way to trust each other, no one will make it out alive.
The thing about Synopsis of a book is that it can make or break the reader’s interest in under 12 seconds (give or take) – and for me, the interest was clinched within 60 seconds of going through the blurb of this book.
Olivia Carter is a single mum; she has had a good start in life, but has forged her own path in her life, even if that means she made wrong choices, but the honorable thing about her is that she owns up to those mistakes and never once in the book do you get “woe be me” kind of feeling from her – which raked up points in her favor in my book of opinions 😀
Zac Savage is the rough and tough marine *now retired* of course; but in the prologue you get to see a pivotal point in his career and life, but also shows the kind of man he is at his core. He doesn’t believe the HEA and white picket fence future is for him, but he hadn’t met the author yet!
The connection and attraction between Zac and Olivia is intense and apparent right from their first meeting, even if it started off at the wrong foot. But that attraction is understated right from the start! But they do succumb to it; don’t they all! But there are conspiracies to unravel, blackmails to be sorted and their attraction takes a backseat!
I might have had a problem with the instant attraction and feelings they had for each other, if the author hadn’t played it off in a subtle manner – the reader knows it’s there and is the foundation of the plot, but it isn’t right in your face! And that made me love the author all the more.
The writing is subtle and simple – you get the feel of being with the characters and getting stuck in this fast paced suspense that makes for a whole lot of the book!
This is the second book in the Redemption Harbor Series; and after I was done with it – I just had to go and get the first one – Resurrection – on my e-reader (review of which will follow soon!) – so you can get how much I absolutely enjoyed it!

Katie Reus is the New York Times, USA Today, and IndieReader bestselling author of the Red Stone Security series, the Moon Shifter series and the Deadly Ops series. She fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom’s stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it.

Not long after that she discovered a new love. Writing. She now spends her days writing dark paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense.
