Growing up dirt-poor, raised by a single mother, she worked twice as hard to get where she is today, and she doesn’t have any patience for the kind of guy who’d give up a decent paycheck to sling drinks. But when the sexual tension finally combusts between the sheets, Camden discovers that people aren’t always what they seem. As David pushes her past her limits, Camden begins to loosen up—and to trust that, when she falls, there will be someone waiting to catch her.

I have pretty much loved these Fireside books; not only are they well written but they are engrossing and keep you entertained for the time you need away from reality.

I am really sad that I have to say goodbye to some pretty awesome characters, but it is also fitting that the send-off is with two mysterious characters about whom not much is known about.

David McGregor is the bartender at his best friend’s restaurant; but he has his secrets – a past that he believes taints him for a future.

Camden Reed is an uptight woman who has strict considerations of the men she dates and a bartender doesn’t really qualify for that list – and while it was really hard to connect with her in the previous books (she really didn’t make a good impression as a potential girlfriend at first!); but there’s a reason for her reasons and those reasons are the ones we get to know a bit better in her quest for HEA. (Did I even make sense? :P)

I adore fictional heroes who know who they want, and don’t mince around with their intentions – and that’s exactly who David was. He had his secrets, but he didn’t take a whole lot of time to share them with Camden, when he understood exactly what she meant and would come to mean to him.

Camden, on the other hand, took time to share; not that I could blame her – people deal with traumas differently and hers was traumatic; as a shrink I get it; but as a reader I did feel that the author took the longer way to the conclusion than was needed – I am not denying that Camden needed the time, I just wished that she could have realised the support provided by David was more solid than she realized!

I still enjoyed the end to this beautiful series, and I am hoping (fingers crossed) that Stacey gets to sneak these characters in the next books she writes!
