Having it all is a fantasy, right?
Chloe Browne knows all about fantasy. Fantasy is her job.
And she’s very, very good at what she does.
As director of design for the O Spa chain, a sophisticated women’s club that is trending its way into being the Next Big Thing, Chloe’s ready to take on the world.
One baby at a time.
Her home study’s done, and she’s about to adopt, a thirty-something single mother by choice. Who needs to put her life on hold for the right guy when the right baby is waiting for her?
Besides, talk about fantasy.
The right guy?
And then in walks Nick Grafton, with those commanding sapphire eyes and wavy blonde hair and a sophisticated mouth that only smiles for her.
But the last thing Nick wants is to start fresh with a new baby as his college-age kids fly the coop. A single father for more than fifteen years after his wife walked out on her family, Nick finally tastes freedom.
But he likes the taste of Chloe more.
Our Options Have Changed is a full-length standalone contemporary romance, the first in the On Hold series by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent and journalist-turned-fiction-writer Elisa Reed. It is a loose spinoff from Julia Kent’s Shopping for a Billionaire series, with cameo appearances from favorite characters.
**BONUS ALL-NEW NOVELLA** from Julia Kent’s New York Times bestselling Shopping series! Read Shopping for a Billionaire’s Honeymoon. This 100-page bonus comes at the end of Our Options Have Changed. When Shannon can’t get workaholic Declan to give her the sexy honeymoon time she wants, she takes matters into her own hands — with hilariously disastrous (or disastrously hilarious?) results.
Julia Kent is one of my favorites for Chick Lit – like my go to author for light, summery reads that gets me all fresh, especially when I am just coming out of a book funk or even a dark read. “Our Options Have Changed” is exactly on that line – and it is brilliant collaboration with Elise Reed (who, by the way, is a totally new author for me.)
Chloe is the typical modern woman. She is the owner of a luxury spa called “O” – and has been in a relationship funk for a while – and when I say “funk”, I mean “NOT MY CUP OF TEA” situation. But she has decided to adopt a baby, because all she has ever wanted to be was a mum and have her own family.
Nick, on the other hand, is a single father, who finally has the “freedom” to live his life – now that his kids have finally flown the coop! He has to decide where his life would go now but he does know that he never really wants to go through the whole family thing again, for he has gotten his life under control only now.
I have got to say this –
The best part about this book? Nick.
Who made the whole freaking book better? Nick.
Who do I wish would my guy take lessons from on love, life and fatherhood? Nick.
Who is the reason for the high rating for this book? Nick.
Seriously peeps. NICK IS DA BOMB!
I adored everything about this man, for he is ALL MAN. He is the epitome of the “Older Man” who gets my juices running – he is smart, cool collected and has the suave of a man who has seen and done everything, so now nothing fazes him at all – plus, he is an AMAZING FATHER – seriously guys, he will get your ovaries humming so bad that you are going to either jump your guy or you’ll end up telling him to read this book so he learns something. (Brownie Points to anyone who guesses which choice did I make!)
But Chloe was my only issue with this and that too only because of the first impression she made – the kind of relationship she was in at the starting, by choice, is not something I could reconcile with – and thus, she already made a VERY BAD IMPRESSION and even though she was adorable throughout the rest of the book, I still had some residual negative feelings about her and they never went away!
But even, I absolutely LOVED this book – not only were the characterizations brilliant, their interaction with each other hilariously real. And the plot wonderfully refreshing. It wonderful to see how Nick and Chloe fall in love and how they find the strength to be with each other, despite the obstacles in their path.
Definitely looking forward to all the wonderful things this series has to give to their readers.
