Protecting His Heart FINAL cover

When a mission goes sideways and leaves seasoned spy Arabella Nox with valuable information and a terrorist on her heels, she seeks out the one person on earth she hopes won’t betray her: the husband she hasn’t spoken to in years.

Felix Ibarra thought he’d put his past behind him, so he’s shocked when Arabella shows up naked in his bed, warning him of an imminent threat. Then, to make things worse, she gets a job with his firm, Wyn Security, behind his back. It’s clear there’s more to her story, but trust doesn’t come easily to either of them.

Can Felix and Arabella work together to banish a mutual enemy, or will the deep emotions that tore them apart the first time be their undoing once again?

This sexy cat-and-mouse game between former lovers will keep you on your toes all the way to the surprising ending.

My Review (1)

I usually don’t read second chance romance – not because I don’t like them, I have somehow never found myself connecting with them!

But the blurb of this book, definitely drew me – a husband and wife separated – with a whole lot of spy games involved? Yup. Definitely count me in!

Felix is a man with a really shady past but it is a past that he doesn’t want to relive – mostly because of the wife he thought he had gotten over, but never gotten divorced to. So when his wife, Arabella walks in his life again, naked – he finally gets his head out of his tushi, and understands that he needs to make a concrete decision now – and he does, by asking for a divorce.

Arabella is on the run – not just to save her husband, but to save herself as well. She has always loved Felix, but misunderstandings and lack of communication has made sure that she and her husband never live together.

Both Felix and Arabella have a volatile relationship – physically they are explosive, but damn if emotionally they aren’t a mess. Both Felix and Arabella made mistakes but what irked me was that these two weren’t willing to talk to each other – but as I went through the story, I realised that neither of them even knew how to talk to each other – not their fault just how they were wired!

I really liked the plot – it is fast paced, full of action and definitely well written even with a few kinks. But the thing that I had a issue with was Felix and Arabella’s relationship – all we get is a short note saying how and why their relationship was destroyed, but never do we get to see them resolve the underlying tensions of their relationships – and that I do believe would have highly enhanced the plot line and the characters themselves.
