One day I was be-bopping along jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.

I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I’d dreamt that my husband was cheating on me, or that he hated me, and resented my kids. He’d always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, that he loved me and our family and that he’d never let me go.

He was a f*cking liar.

Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for other’s being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.

I’ve got great friends who have my back, and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Maybe things are starting to look up, and one thing’s for sure… There’s always room for cupcakes.

So here is what happened, I read the blurb of this book, and somehow decided to read this book, because

A. Cupcakes.

B. Cupcakes

And I am so glad to have actually made this choice!! 😀

The book starts off exactly like the blurb says – Lila is a woman scorned and damn if she didn’t use it to actually turn her life around. She found her husband cheating on her and yet went ahead to becoming a freaking ninja (well, figuratively :P)

Now being a divorced thirty-something mom of twins, with an douche of an ex – makes her cynical enough to believe that every single man tends to become a cheater in the future, no matter how absolutely loving and faithful he is right now.

So ends up working for a PI to uncover other douches like her ex and other petty crimes. And it is during one of those crimes, that she ends on the back of a motorcycle of literal hotness erstwhile going to be known as Cade 😀

Now Cade has his own reasons for noticing Lila – top most being that she is pretty darn attractive to him, but also because he knows that she just might get in the middle of a bad situation.

This is a pretty humorous take on a MC Alpha Hero and foul mouthed risk taking heroine – I so absolutely loved their interactions and not to mention the way Lila observed her surroundings and the people in her lives.

Tld in her POV, the author pretty much nails down the emotional aspect of the heroine and not to mention how absolutely fun it was to anticipate the turns and twists the plot undertook.
and let me tell you, the mention of cupcakes throughout the story, when I was sick in bed, did nothing to appease – all it made me do was go buy a box of cupcakes the moment I was well enough to actually move about 😀

The only issue? I would have absolutely loved having the POV of Cade – not jut because hot alpha males tend to get my juices running but because I do believe it would have only added to mystery of the book – knowing that he was into her, through Lila’s perspective just wasn’t enough and definitely would have made it a little bit more engrossing – and not to mention, a bit more angst with the already leve of humor and mystery in this book, would have made it a 5 star read for me!

But does that mean, I didn’t enjoy it? Of course I did, and I do recommend this book to anyone who wants a bit of light -hearted romance with mystery to engross you!
