Enjoy your visit, lovelies ❤
Having made it to the major leagues, AJ “Rage” Romero is determined to shake the stigma his temper has earned him over the years. He’s finally managed a shaky hold of that elusive self-control.
Until he meets them . . .
Without warning, his coach and mentor’s brilliantly gifted granddaughter Clair and her equally amazing mother Addison Lara blow into AJ’s life. The harder he falls for Addison, the closer and more attached he becomes to Clair.
Having fallen so fast and hard, he agrees to respect the understandably protective single mother’s wish to forever keep the identity of Clair’s absent father unknown to everyone—including AJ.
But when the ugly truth about Clair’s dad begins to surface, the fire in AJ’s fiercely possessive heart is lit. As more of the troubling reality comes to light, his zero tolerance for secrets and dishonesty put his temper—and his love for Addison—to the ultimate test.
Self-control has never felt so impossible.
Disclaimer: This is the 5th book in the Fate Series by Elizabeth Reyes but can be read as a standalone 🙂
This is the story of AJ Romero, widely known as Rage, for his infamous temper and anger management issues and Addison, a single mother of a precocious girl, Clair.
This is my first book by Ms. Reyes and I have to say that I am intrigued – by her writing style and the world that she creates.
Ms. Reyes starts off with a little history into AJ – his start to the major leagues and his famous temper – and the acceptance of his issue and the emergence of a turbulent hold he has gathered on his temper.
His life takes a new turn when he meets the granddaughter of his mentor – Clair who doesn’t take a long time to permanently have a hold on his heart but it is his mother, Addison who makes him all the more interested.
But Addison has a secret – a secret that shouldn’t have to be kept a secret but still is! She has her reasons and Rage respects that, until he can’t anymore.
First, let me just tell you, I actually loved the writing style of the author (definitely checking out the rest of the series next!) – she has the simplicity that seeps under your skin until you end up feeling every single emotion that the characters are feeling, even if you don’t like the character.
Second, I loved AJ and Clair, but most of all I absolutely loved their interactions and relationship they slowly developed with each other. It wasn’t just heartwarming to watch, it was also beautiful and absolutely realistic. Every single interaction left me with a warm feeling in my heart.
What I did not like or rather who I did not like was Addison – I understand the trials and tribulations that comes with being a single mother. I understand trying to keep yourself and your daughter from heartbreak – but I do not understand, or rather condone not communicating anything to the man you profess to be falling for. It’s hard sometimes to accept decisions that fictional characters make, but you do understand the logic behind it! But here, every single decision that Addison took was not only impulsive but was also selfish and at it’s core immature. And that just put me off her.
And Addison is the only reason why this book gets 4 Stars – the only reason!
