I always read Penny’s books twice. Yes you read that – TWICE!
The first time is immediately when I receive the ARC of her new book – even if it is the middle of the night. I can surely and definitely kiss my sleep goodbye then because Not reading her book is definitely not an option. This is the time when all the swooning, drooling, fangirling and basically the bookgasms happen and those basically are out of my control, especially those fantasies that I weave around the men Penny writes about (Hint: Cletus and his big hands!)
Second time I read it, it’s closer to the release date and the Blog Tour and I have to have the review. So I try to be a little more unbiased and lot more controlling of my actions and thoughts as a reader (I rarely succeed, but the most important thing is that I try – that’s what mommy says!).
Cletus cocked an eyebrow at his older brother, clearly not impressed with Billy’s tone. “You’re not going to tell me you haven’t been salivating for my sausage?”
We met the Winston Brothers in Beauty and the Moustache – story of Ashley, their sister. And it was hard not fall for each of them! Because they were the epitome of adorableness – with each of them so distinctly individual, yet so artfully together that it was heartwarming to see them as a family!
Can you just imagine this pretty awesomely amazing men in you family? I can – because in my heart and mind, Cletus is already mine 😉

This story is about Duane Faulkner Winston – the more serious twin of the fun loving Beau. He is steadfast, loyal and absolutely mesmerizing! Honestly, speaking it took me a while to warm up to him. He is the epitome of the tall strong and silent type with a red beard. It wasn’t until I started reading his POV that I understood – understood that he is exactly the man a girl wishes she would end up with in reality – although I have a feeling that it would be true for all the Winston brothers!

Jessica James is the good girl with a wanderer’s heart! She is the daughter of the Sheriff and the sister of a police officer – who has a beef with Winston Brothers (if you want to know about that, do read Beauty and Moustache!). Jessica *believes* that she has a crush on Beau and that Duane has always been the bane of her existence. Imagine her surprise (in fact, don’t. READ THE BOOK!) when she finds out the man she is attracted to is in fact Duane and not Beau as she would have expected. This starts off a relationship that none of them have a control over.
“My momma once told me, you don’t need to be pushed in order to fall. I don’t think you’ll need to do much pushing, Jessica.”
“I want to know you. And I want to be known.”
As it took me a while to warm up to Duane, it also took me a while to warm to their relationship. I am ashamed to say that there was a while (like a few pages) when I questioning Penny’s decision to bring these together. But I was disabused of that notion almost immediately!
Jess and Duane are perfect together – they just had a few trials to go through before they understood that.
This book though is a little different from Penny’s other books! Not just because she gives us Beards and Bikers but also because this is a book where the characters rather than facing their own insecurities, have to face the fact that their dreams, dreams that have been a part of them for so long, aren’t exactly the same without the one they seem to have fallen for!
This book is about compromises, about understanding that some dreams are better lived with loved ones, than alone and that you don’t have to give up on your dreams to find a fulfilling life!
And that’s exactly where Penny wins my heart!
