The Calish Couple Tour: Song of Secrets (The School for Wayward Demons) Tate Hallaway and Rachel Calish

25135243

A shape-shifter with a penchant for breaking and entering…

A homeless boy struggling with hallucinations that could turn out to be all too real…

A monster in need of rescue…

And a mathematical genius with a real demon of a mother…

Fate draws Theo, Gabe, Erin and Kitty to a place they jokingly call “The School for Wayward Demons.” There they learn that sinister forces threaten to invade the city of San Francisco and plot to overthrow the powers that be. Now they must choose whom to trust: the witches, the demons, or the Shaitans. Or each other.

Welcome to another exciting publishing house spotlight tour from Novel Publicity. Join us as two new titles from Rachel Calish–we’re calling them the Calish Couple—tour the blogosphere in a way that just can’t be ignored. And, hey, we’ve got prizes!

 Review:

When you have demons, shapeshifters and witches coming together, who might I mention, are also unapologetic about their sexual preference – mayhem is what you get!

This book grabbed me from the get go, even if it was a little disorienting to jump into a whole new world without any forewarning, but I found my feet quite quickly!

This book is told in four different viewpoint – Gabe and Theo are natural–or feral–witches who have never understood their powers whereas Kitty and Erin are human-demon hybrids–one of whom has been imprisoned and tortured for her powers and the other who lives with the fact that she will always disappoint her ultra demon mom who expects more of her.

But the fun starts when all four of them get together. It is a heady ride and so much fun for the reader – which is complimented by the fact that you get the views of all four of them – so basically you are not left in the dark – you don’t get irritated by the pesky questions “If she is doing this, how do you think he will handle that?” and something of the sort!!

Each of them is recruited to a school for wayward demons and of course for sch four different characters – there would be friction, but even that friction was superbly handled!! Not to mention how absolutely thrilled my bookwormish and fangirl heart was with all the literary and movie references. That honestly made the characters all the more real to me!

I am so glad that I chose this book to be the one that shifted my focus from current romance streak to fantasy – do not regret it one bit! 😉

Recommendation:

If you are a lover of Fantasy and would love to have a bit (okay a lot of) LGBTQ tastefully handled, then definitely pick this one up! It will keep you on your toes and frankly, not many fantasy books have actually handled the LGBTQ pairings in such a wonderfully matter of fact manner!
