Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway: ClownFellas: Tales of the Bozo Family by Carlton Mellick lll

In a topsy-turvy world where clowns are killers and crooks, Little Bigtop is a three-ring circus of crime, and no syndicate is more dangerous than the Bozo family. From the wildly original mind of Carlton Mellick III comes the short-story collection ClownFellas—an epic mob saga where life is cheap and the gags will slay you.

For years, the hard-boiled capos of the Bozo family have run all of the funny business in Little Bigtop, from the clown brothels to the illegal comedy trade. But hard times have befallen the Bozos now that Le Mystère, the French clown Mafia, has started moving in and trying to take over the city. If that weren’t enough, they’ve got to deal with the cops, the Feds, the snitches, the carnies, the mysterious hit man Mr. Pogo, and the mutant clowns over in the Sideshow district. With the odds stacked against them, the Bozos must fight to survive . . . or die laughing.

Okay.. This is one bizzare book! I am not even kidding! It is..

It talks about Little Bigtop, where the infamous Clowns rule . Clowns are a different species, they are horrifically interesting and damn if they don’t have the best kind of weapons imaginable!!

Little BigTop is ruled by Bozo Family, headed by Don Bozo – consider them the Clown Mafia to be precise! This book is a collection of six stories about various members of the Bozo family – that all culminate in one big showdown.

There are two ways that you can be a Clown (which I have come to believe is quite the prestigious situation to be in!) – you either are born one or are made into one by injecting Happy Juice – which if doesn’t work out turns you into a SIdeshow Freak, something that is even hideous to a Clown!

The best part of being a Clown is the wonderful weaponry available to them – from balloon guns, to bomb filled pie to bullets that kill by laughter to bullets with that fill you with enough depression to make you kill yourself – these CLowns have the veritable toy store in their hands and pretty much had me salivating over them 😀

The stories themselves are quite the collection – from murder to revenge to jealousy to betrayal to humor to even love – the stories had it all. The writing itself is a compliment to the world the author has created and I absolutely loved my stay in it.

The only reason I am not giving this book 5 stars, is because while I loved this bizarre beautiful world, I couldn’t read it one go. I had to pace myself with “a story a day” – I could only read a story a day and sometimes not even the whole story – which totally is on me – maybe clowns aren’t my thing?

But I will definitely want to read other works by the author – because the kind of realism he brings to even the bizarrest world is brilliant and definitely commendable!

If you need something different – then pick up this book. But not if you suffer from Coulrophobia! Do not know what that is? Why don’t you read and find out? *evil smirk*
