CaptureTour

Well the wait is over!! This wait was really really really REALLY long, wasn’t it? How does Penny fare at the end of the Heat for you? 😛

Before you go ahead to read the review, please understand this the last part of a series and you will need to read Part I: Attraction and Part II:Heat. So understand this review will have little spoilers (as little as possible) to the previous parts.

And now I won’t do a Penny (Bahahaha!) and keep you waiting long for the review of Capture! 😉

  03-Available-now

Elements of Chemistry: Capture is the third and final part of a trilogy series called Hypothesis and each instalment will be released within a month of each other. This series is a NA contemporary romance read.

Review:

There are two things Penny Reid does well with her books, to me especially:

  • Give me such humongous book hangovers that it becomes hard.. no not hard… down right impossible for me to get into another book or series after reading her books. I still down know, whether to hug or punch you for that Penny.
  • Her books, or rather her characters make me wish that I knew how to make beautiful edits that other reviewers do. And for a person with as much creative skill as a snail, that is not exactly a self esteem boosting thing 😛

‘…I was on a new path, a path I loved. He woke me up, even if I was kicking and screaming the whole time, and even if I broke my heart in the process.’

It’s been months since the events of Heat.. Everything has changed.

Kaitlyn now is part of a band. She has changed her major to music and is now on the outs with her mother but gotten a little closer to her father. It’s been months since she has seen Martin and believes that she has gotten over him (Yeah right!).

Then in a show by her band, she feels someone watching her.. And that look is enough to get everything back into focus… And she understands that both her and Martin were just in a limbo.

“He was still wrapped around my heart and I had no way to evict him. I wasn’t sure I could.” But it’s more than just moving on from Martin. It’s a stage where I become comfortable in my own skin, happy with where I am, what I’m doing, and who I’m doing it with.”

This was a bittersweet end to a fast paced series! Compared to Attraction and Heat, where in, everything happened between Kaitlyn and Martin happened at the speed of light, Capture in comparison, was slow as a tack.

Everything between Martin and Kaitlyn went back to square 1. They go back to being friends – but that came with its own set of its problems.

For someone who valued being honest and truthful, Kaitlyn became too scared to confront Martin with what she felt and and believed. She became the antithesis of what she was in the first two book and while I understood the process/ reason behind, didn’t mean that I didn’t want to smack her around a bit!

I don’t want a beautiful week with you. I want a beautiful lifetime.”

Martin, on the other hand, had changed a lot. He became more mature, more resilient and more focal towards what’s important in life. In short, he became the apple of my eye 😀

And with this maturity, also came the understanding of who or rather what Kaitlyn is made of! And that is the biggest reason why, I forgive the slowness of the plot in this instalment.

“Just because I don’t feel calm, doesn’t mean I can’t be calm.”

After reading, all the three instalments, I finally understand why Penny chose to divide this into three parts. I know this for a fact, if I had read it as a bundle, I would have gotten pissed off by the middle of Heat!

Let’s be honest, there was a whole of miscommunication and assumption in every single part of the book – but that is to be expected. Both Kaitlyn and Martin ended up facing each other – two people who couldn’t have been more different from each other!

While this may not have been my Favorite Weird Reid Romance (Yes that’s a thing cause I am making it a thing!) – mostly because it’s not Dual POV and I really need Dual POV to have closure – but that doesn’t mean that I won’t revisit Martin and Kaitlyn.

I will. Because I absolutely adore them together! Two brilliant, emotionally scarred college students who had their world turned on it’s axis and in the process found love, laughter and best of all, themselves.

When Penny Reid enters a new genre, she just doesn’t enter it gracefully, she blasts the door to smithereens with a Doctor Who theme song in the background – cause that’s how awesome she is ❤

”Perhaps love is simply finding that one person who sees you clearly, cares for you deeply, challenges you and supports you, and subsequently helps you see yourself. Love, I decided, is being a sidekick.”

Rating:

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ .5

Recommendation:

It’s a Penny Reid book so of course it’s highly recommended 😛

But A word of advice do not read the three parts altogether. It will be hell on you. I suggest an interval between each part – let’s say of an hour or so? That is, if you can last that long with the kind of cliffhangers Penny tossed us with!

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
